Marietta Reads! Top Reader Extravaganza, May 17  Lockheed Elementary, A. L. Burruss Elementary, Sawyer Road Elementary and Marietta Center for Advanced Academics students were among the Top Readers invited to the Marietta Reads! Top Reader Extravaganza for elementary students hosted by Scholastic Book Fairs in Kennesaw. |
Lockheed Celebrates AR Principal’s Challenge, May 14 Lockheed Elementary students recently celebrated reaching their Accelerated Reader (AR) Marietta Reads! goal for the year. Over 190 students achieved their AR goal and were able to pitch a ball to dunk Principal Carmona. Splash! Photos» Lockheed Honors Earth Day, Apr. 27  Lockheed Elementary and Marietta High School students along with Lockheed-Martin employees recently gathered for an environmental “face-lift” to Lockheed Elementary in honor of Earth Day. Lockheed Educator’s Quilts Featured In Book, Apr. 2 Lynette Jackson, a 3rd grade teacher at Lockheed Elementary quilts in her spare time. Her work was recently recognized in a book with other accomplished quilters titled Journey of Hope - Quilts Inspired by President Barack Obama by Carolyn L. Mazloomi. Jackson’s quilt is featured on the book cover and on pages 106 and 107 of the book. Rotary Visits Lockheed - Supports Literacy, Mar. 26  Members of the Rotary Club of Marietta recently visited 2nd graders at Lockheed Elementary in support of Marietta Reads!
