Leadership Academy
The Leadership Academy at Lockheed Elementary School fosters opportunities for kindergarten through fifth grade students to develop their leadership capacity. The program provides kindergarten through fifth grade student’s with mentorship and guidance to see themselves as leaders by applying principles outlined in The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. Each student’s personal and academic/professional growth is supported through the enGauge® 21st Century Skills Program to address the areas of digital literacy, inventive thinking, effective communication and high productivity.

In a vote of 6:0, the Board of Education of the City of Marietta approved at their May 15, 2012 meeting, the Superintendent's recommendation to tentatively adopt the Fiscal Year 2013 (FY2013) budget as submitted for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2012. The tentatively adopted budget balances revenues and expenses at $77.7 million. The budget is available for public review leading up to the June 19, 2012, work session when the board is expected to approve the FY2013 budget. Fiscal Year 2013 runs from July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2013.

MHS Auditorium Groundbreaking, May 17
Marietta City Schools (MCS) will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Multi-Use Auditorium at Marietta High School (MHS) on Thursday, May 17 at 6 p.m. The Multi-Use Auditorium will accommodate approximately 750 students and is scheduled for completion June 2013. More»

MHS Boys Basketball Summer Skills Camp, June 11-14
Marietta High School Boys Basketball summer skills camp for all rising 4th-8th graders is scheduled for June 11 – 14. Pre-registration cost is $75 due by May 21 ($90 after May 21).

Camp'Us Adventures Summer Camp, June 4 – July 27
Camp'Us Adventures Summer Camp at Marietta Sixth Grade Academy (MSGA) for ages 5-14 begins June 4. To register online visit www.mariettacommunityschool.com/camp. Hours are from 6:30 a.m. till 7 p.m. each day and the cost is $140 per week/$35 per day for 4 or fewer days. A $100 non-refundable registration fee is required to reserve a place for your child for the summer. Multiple child discounts are available. All activities and field trips are included in the fee.
Camp'Us Adventures Weeklong Specialty Camps 2012
Along with the day camp, Camp'Us Adventures offers weeklong specialty camps: Art Camp Extravaganza, 2012 Brick Olympics, Big Thinkers Science, Broadway Dance Week, Music Theatre Camp, Peter Pan and Tinkerbell, and Video Game Animation. Energy Conservation – Summer Hours Marietta Schools, Facilities & Central Office
Marietta City Schools (MCS) moves to its summer schedule four-day work week beginning June 4, 2012, with most facilities closing one day per week Fridays: June 8, 15, 22, 29, and July 13 and 20. All MCS facilities and schools will close Wednesday, July 4 in observance of the Independence Day holiday. All MCS facilities return to a regular five-day workweek Monday, July 23, 2012. More»
